    You Tube video trailer: http://bit.ly/GWcIon

    Our Thoughts:
The soon-to-be 17 year old looked at me as if I were simple-minded to even suggest she play a match game.  The 7 year old, however, was more than eager enough to make up for her sister's lack of interest.

Initially after downloading the app, I was skeptical about its long-term ability to occupy my children's attention.  This is where I eat crow because the 7 year old really liked playing Catch a Match.  Since downloading it a few days ago, she has asked to play every day.

I asked her what she liked so much about it:
    • She liked the cute pictures of puppies.
    • There weren't hints, so it made her have to figure it out for herself.
    • The cute sound effects when you get a match correct.

BraveBit App Studio, the makers of Catch a Match App, are also giving your an opportunity to win iTunes App Store Gift Cards.

The first item that I tried was the Basic H2® Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate and following the directions, I mixed 1/2 tsp of concentrate with 16 ounces of water in one of the included spray bottles.

Product Review and Giveaway | Kong Toys

    Saturday, March 17, 2012

    {EAV:9bf8c0455fa06e37}
This is a guest post and the review is in the sole opinion of CrazyAboutDeals.com

Thanks to Kong!!!  We are lucky to be able to review a Kong Classic, Kong Stuff’n Yogurt Spread, Kong Air Dog (Tennis Fetch Toy), and a Kong Squeezz toy and sponsor our giveaway.  In order to understand how long these toys last, you’ll need to know a little bit about our dogs.  They are so different from each other.

From time to time you might hear me mention my dogs on my Facebook posts.  Both of my dogs are as different as can be.  Parisa is a purebred 5lb Yorkie.  She is my smallest dog of the two.  She is also a tough chewer.  She can take apart toys that are made for tough chewers.  When she was younger during her teething stage, she once chewed the corner of my wooden nightstand.  It freaked me out that one she can chew through wood and two what would the wood do to her system.  Luckily she’s fine.  Preston is a Yorkie Mix (not sure what he’s mixed of) that is approx7 lbs.  He is the gentle dog that will gnaw on toys and his plush toys will last him years.

We decided to test a toy a day.  Preston did great with all the toys.  He was excited to test out all these new toys.  We played fetch with the tennis balls. He ran around the whole condo with a tennis ball in his mouth.  The ball still looks new.  As Preston was gnawing on the Kong Squeezz, he discovered that it also squeaks.  From there on the toy didn’t stop squeeking (wouldn’t recommend it at night…lol).  Preston was not interested in the Kong Classic until there we put the Stuff’n Yogurt Spread into the Kong Clasic.  After that he couldn’t put it down.  And now the review from a tough chewer, my little Princess Parisa.  She however was not so gentle with the toys.  She tried to strip the fuzz from the tennis ball so I had to take it away.  She was okay with the Squeezz but noticed some wear and tear.  When Parisa had the Kong Classic with the Stuff’n, she was more focused on trying to take the food out. She didn’t try to destroy it. So if you have a dog like Preston then your toys will last them a lifetime. =)

Enter to win your very own set of toys from Kong Toys for the pampered pooches in your life.  Enter on the Rafflecopter widget found below by logging into your Facebook account.  Winner notifications will be sent to the email address associated with your Facebook account.

The Taste and Smell of a Memory

    Saturday, February 18, 2012

As an adult, there are many times when I will catch a whiff of a specific combination of smells and I am transported back to memorable times as a child.

More recently the memories that drift on the breeze as it eddies through my window are thoughts of one of our favorite vacation destinations. I almost don't have to say it, but it is Walt Disney World.

Knowing of my love for WDW then it will come as no surprise that when I was invited to sample Ghirardelli's new Milk & Truffle Squares, my first thought was of Disney.

    Why you ask?

Because Walt Disney World has it's own distinctive smells that conjure up special Disney memories.  Opening the bag of Ghirardelli Milk & Truffle squares, I closed my eyes and just had a nice long smell of the sweet aroma coming from the bag.

Instantly I was transported to Downtown Disney in Orlando, FL standing outside the doors of the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop.  There is a welcoming cast member standing just inside the entrance with a basket of chocolate squares neatly cut open.  The invitation is extended, "Please try one of our new Milk & Truffle squares."

    Hmmmm.....exquisite!

    Product Review | Greased Lightning

    Tuesday, December 27, 2011

I admit that I make a lot of admissions to you dear readers here on Keeping Your Cents. I'm sure that some of them might make us both blush at times, but this is one that I think might surprise some of you.

As a working mom of three I hate to clean! Oh my goodness.  That felt so naughty, and yet, on some levels so freeing to say that.

Things have to be mighty bad for me to pick up the mop and broom. On rare occasions when I do clean, I want it me be as quick and as painless as possible. My cleaner has to get the job done efficiently on its own because momma doesn't like to add a lot of elbow grease to the equation.

Usually around the children's school vacations, we plan a camping trip with several of our friends and my family members.  This year we are heading out to a great state park and enjoying nature.

No camping trip just happens though.  There are a boat load of things on my to-do list and the majority of them center on cleaning.

Want to see the tough job that was on my to-do list before we headed on our family camping trip?

I won't scare you with the items needing to be cleaned on the inside.  Just take my word that it is only slightly better than the outside.

So when I was sent a full-sized bottle of Greased Lightning Multi-Purpose Cleaner & Degreaser, I was really excited to give it a try.

My first thought was heading to the camper for some really tough jobs.

Here is a shot of the spot test that I did.  I honestly just sprayed a spot, waited a few seconds, and wiped it off.

    Success!

I ran inside and got my hubby to tell him about my brand new bottle of Greased Lightning and how awesome it worked on the camper.  He seemed impressed and only complained a little bit when I asked him to wash the rest of the camper.  Lol!

I found myself walking through the house with my Greased Lightning looking for other stuff to clean.  How sick is it that I actually want to clean.  Wow!  This stuff is powerful.

Greased Lightning Super Strength can help you survive those everyday messes during the holidays, like drink spills on your carpet, day-old food residue on your kitchen counter and even grass stains from the family football game!

Great for surfaces in every part of your house and even for stain removal, Greased Lightning is a multi-purpose cleaner and degreaser that removes grease and grime, laundry and carpet stains, soap scum, and much more.

Product Review | The Slice Safety Cutter

    Monday, November 14, 2011

Hello, my name is desiab and I am a coupon addict!  That is an admission I make freely and happily to anyone that will listen.

Lately my coupon addiction has left me overloaded with too many coupon inserts stacked up on the table.  The husband and children graciously offer to help me clip my lovely money-saving slips of gold.  But my coupons are precious to me and cutting them precisely is not to be taken lightly.

When the lovely folks at Tomoson.com asked me to test out the new Slice Safety Cutter, I immediately thought about my coupon hoard.  I would be able to put my nifty new cutter to the ultimate test.

Could it tackle my stack of coupons?

I am happy to report that it did.  While I had to be careful not to stack to many together at one time, the Slice Safety Cutter handled it like a pro.

Another nice thing about the Slice Safety Cutter is it can easily and safely be thrown in my purse or coupon binder.

Be sure to check out all the latest information about the Slice Safety Cutter and any new products introduced on their Facebook page.

    Product Review | Wanchai Ferry {giveaway expired}

    Friday, October 22, 2010

Last week I received a fun prize pack and challenge through MyBlogSpark.  I was sent Wanchai Ferry Orange Chicken and Romano's Macaroni Grill Basil Chicken dry dinner kits, along with a $25 Visa Gift card.  The challenge was to create a special date night for hubby and I.

I remember our first official date which included soft candlelight, Mexican food, margaritas, and a 2 year old.  Yes, we took my toddler on our first date.  So it wasn't the most romantic date, but it was extremely sexy to see the man I would marry acting as a father to my child.

Later that night I was introduced to his family as "the woman he loved".  There was no surprise to anyone that we were engaged less than a week later and married within four months.  In January we will celebrate 12 years together.

And in those 12 years life has definitely changed.  We are older, not much wiser, and have two more children.  So when I was asked to create a special date night, I could so perfectly see it in my mind.  Platters of delicious smelling food, delicate china, wine, candlelight, fragrant flowers, jazzy music playing in the background, and no children.
    The Plan
My special Date Night turned into Family Date Night.  The plates and cups didn't match, the candles had batteries, the flowers were fake, and the only music I heard was the sound of my children laughing.  I figure that the time will come when my husband and I will have those special dinners alone, but for now we will continue the tradition of having our kids join us in celebration of life.
    The Reality

Preparing the kits were easy as pie and fairly quick.  I purchased the protein and the rest of the ingredients were staples I usually have in the pantry or fridge.  As far as the taste, both entrees got the highest compliment that my children can give:  they asked me to prepare them again.  Success!  So thank you MyBlogSpark, Wanchai Ferry, and Macaroni Grill for adding a new meal to my kid-friendly, and date night arsenal.

Do you remember your first date with your spouse or significant other?
